** Made by Melissa and Doug
** 16 inches Long and 11 inches High
Those short, stubby legs, those wide paws almost like paddles, that elongated body that looks like someone took a dog and stuck it in a taffy puller, those long flappy ears, that long muzzle – this isn’t some strange mishmash like a chimera or other beast of yore. It’s Germany’s own wiener dog, the Dachshund!
Melissa & Doug capture both the snuggly warmth and the lifelike charm of the real deal in their 16-inch long, 11-inch tall plush Dachshund. With his silky soft, short black and tan coat, long floppy ears and low, long body, he makes the best life size cuddle companion you could want, short of the real thing.
Did you know that even though they’re super small, Doxies are actually very very loyal and protective of their humans? If you’re a strange dog, or even better, a strange human, best to be running the other way, very fast. Doxies were originally bred in Germany of yesteryear as hunting dogs. Hunting dogs? How could this itty bitty thing do that? Well, they’re actually pretty durable, fast and capable of running long distances, which is perfect for following after speedy game. Their wide paws were also perfect for digging into burrows after fleeing critters. They’re not used for sport so much anymore, but they still have that chase instinct, which means birds, squirrels and small humans are easy targets for this tiny terror when he’s on the warpath. Easy fix, just socialize him early, and get him used to everybody that you can. Or just bring home M&D’s own perfect plush dog, and save yourself the hassle.
