The alligator is one of the oldest species in the world – about 200 million years old. This makes them a “living fossil”. They’re bigger than some dinosaurs, not so big as others, but they really look like they just came out of Jurassic Park, don’t they? If you think that’s scary, imagine how much bigger these bad boys of the bayou would have been back in the day of the dinosaurs. Makes you shudder, doesn’t it?
But Mary Meyer’s plush alligator, Alexander is as safe and fun as only a cute little alligator can be. Made of the highest quality, 100% kid-safe, kid-friendly materials, Alex is adorable as he sits there, waiting for you to pick him up and cuddle with him.
He’s dark green with a yellow chest and he has an embroidered nose, white felt teeth and a spiky tail. His shiny black eyes seem to look at the world with a quiet sweetness that you just can’t ignore. Really, he’s almost as adorable as a real baby alligator. Speaking of baby alligators, did you know that after they’re born, to get them to the water, the mother alligator actually carries them in her mouth? Scary, with all those nasty pointy teeth, but she’s really gentle. In fact, baby alligators are in greater danger from their dad than from their mom. Like any baby, they’re rather vulnerable when they first hatch, but given time, they grow up into the ancient, fascinating reptiles we know and love.
