“G’day!” this friendly and fun plush kangaroo seems to say as she and her baby make their way across the arid expanse of the Australian Outback. And just what are they looking for out here in the middle of nowhere in The Land Down Under? Why, they’re looking for fun of course! Maybe you’ll be the one to deliver?
Russ Berrie Yomiko brings these wonderful marsupials to life with a unique quality and attention to detail that is all its own, and really outshines other toy makers in the process. Standing at 14 inches tall, the mama kangaroo (known as a Jill, a doe or a flyer) carries her baby (or joey) in her pouch.
Aren’t those pouches neat? They’re like if your mom came with a stroller grafted to her body. Yes we know. Kind of a scary thought, huh? But for the kangaroo, it works rather well.
Marsupials are the only animals to have them. But kangaroos aren’t the only species in the world that do. There’s the Tasmanian Devil (Gotta love Taz!), various types of opossums, the wallaby (related to the kangaroo), the koala and lots of others, too. From the tips of her white ears to the pads on the bottom of her long feet (used for hopping around – the kangaroo’s main means of locomotion), from her baby joey’s snuggled in her pouch to the tip of her long tail (used for balance), this mama and baby ‘roo pair just beg to be taken home and cuddled.
