When you think of the llama, what comes to mind? Tibet? Buddhists? Unfortunately, that’s Lama preceded by Dalai. While we’re sure the spiritual ruler of Tibet and role model to Buddhists all over the world would hardly be fazed at being compared to a woolly relative of the camel that lives half a world away, the point is, they’re two very different things! One is spiritual. The other spits (when he’s irritated). Though in this case, the Dalai Lama and this llama have something in common. See how he’s kind of a yellowish color? The Dalai Lama is leader of the ‘Yellow Hat’ school of Buddhism. And on that note, the spiritual talk stops there. We promise. On to the llama! And on, and on.
Seriously, there is so much we could say about this cuddly critter that it’s hard to know where to begin. They’re similar to camels, but they’re a lot woollier than those desert-dwelling beasts. That’s a good thing, because the Andes mountains that are their home can get chilly! Brrr! And their wool works so well to keep them toasty, that the humans who live alongside them and who helped domesticate them have been using the wool of the llama for centuries much the same way that we use sheep wool in the United States. How cool is that? And Wildlife Artists brings the lovable llama to life with their 17-inch long, 23-inch tall plushie pal. He’s as snuggly as the real thing, and as an added bonus, he smells a lot better too!
