Straight from the Father Land, these stubby-legged little buddies may as well be Germany’s own mascots. Seriously, during the 1972 Olympics in Munich, one Doxie in particular (a little guy named Waldi, who was based off a real dog named Cherie von Birkenhof) was the Olympic mascot for the host country. Now that’s notoriety you can’t buy.
These feisty little Dachshunds are known for their strength, stamina and boundless energy. And loyalty? Pfft. If you treat them right, doxies will love you and yours forever and ever and the same goes for Spats and Johann here. And they’ll be as loyal to you as you could ever hope for. But when it comes to introducing them to friends, go slow. Doxies tend not to handle strange people too well. And don’t take their diminutive stature to mean they can’t pull one over on those they don’t like. They tend to give ‘ankle biter’ a whole new meaning.
On the lighter side of things, Douglas captures the whimsy and fun of this most absurdly shaped beastie in their pair of 14-inch long stuffed Doxies – the aforementioned Johann and Spats. Spats comes with a classic tan and black coat and Johann comes in the other classic form, with a short red coat (No, he’s not British). Real dachshunds can come in either one of those colors, or numerous others, to say nothing of having a long, short or a wiry coat. Options, options, options. For lovers of cuddly little friends, Johann and Spats make the perfect pair to complete any ensemble or plush dog collection.
