** Made by Jaag
** 16 inch

We’ve all watched enough martial arts movies to know where this is going. Haven’t we? Well, the joke’s on you pal. We weren’t going there at all! It’s so cliché and overblown, isn’t it? Let’s just focus on what we’ve got here, shall we?

So what exactly do we have here? Jaag offers up a rather cuddly version of this most unique insect. And cuddly is good, considering this predatory bug is related to termites and roaches – two of the creepiest crawlies ever! Well, maybe not to you. They freak us right out. As for the praying mantis, we figure that in a past life it did some awful things. That’s a good reason to seek redemption isn’t it?

But it’s all just a sham. This is no bug of peace. These guys are vicious and tenacious. Some species adopt a wait and see ambush approach. Others will actually chase their meals down like a rabid child scampering after an  ice cream truck. And as the mantis grows, so too does what it eats. Small ones might eat tiny flies and the like, while bigger ones might feed on frogs. Yes, frogs. It really just depends on what the mantis fancies that day. Prey has to be small enough for them to capture, but large enough to get their attention. Considering how ruthless the mantis tends to be, we’re awful glad these things don’t come in human-size.

It turns out that their praying mantis style is best of all.
