Ah, the Dobie. Has any one breed, excepting or perhaps including the Pit Bull ever been so unfairly maligned? Let us be frank (as opposed to Bill or George). Doberman Pinschers (not Pinchers) ‘can’ be bred and trained to be vicious brutes, but this is a selective and highly subjective matter. Well-loved and gently yet firmly trained Dobies actually make wonderful family pets. They ‘are’ loyal, and can be very protective of their owners, which might make them seem threatening to strangers. They are not the Devil incarnate however. Seriously. Let all that mistrust and fear go. You can’t really blame the whole breed for what a few bad apples have done in the past.
So, now that we’ve gotten all that unpleasantness out of the way, what makes Fiesta’s stuffed Doberman so special, hm? Well, will you look at him? Those erect ears, that upright posture, those keen eyes. He just looks the part of the dog’s soldier, doesn’t he? He also looks pretty darn realistic. As a bit of trivia, did you know that the perky ears of the Dobie aren’t natural? That’s an entirely human thing, as is the docked tail. The ears and tail are ‘fixed’ when the pup is a few weeks old, ostensibly for safety reasons, and to improve the dog’s hearing, but Dobie’s naturally have long upwardly curved tails, and floppy ears.
When it comes to good plush toys, that’s to be expected. You’ll not find any ‘rough approximations’ here. Fiesta’s plush animals are all first rate, and for fans of the Dobie and dogs in general, he makes a grrrreat addition to the stuffed animal collection. Just keep him away from the Scooby Snacks, hm?
